Revenue per coach

Also called: revenue per trainer, per-coach revenue

Revenue per coach is a multi-coach coaching business's monthly revenue divided by the number of coaches delivering it. For a solo practice it equals revenue, so the number only becomes meaningful when a second coach is hired. It measures whether the business is growing or just adding payroll.

Revenue per coach will fall the month a business hires, because the new coach bills nothing while the ramp runs. It only recovers when the new coach's roster fills, and the length of that ramp is the number to watch rather than the headline.

Paired with coach utilisation, revenue per coach is the business-level view of capacity: it connects the decision to hire to the demand that justifies it, and it is how a multi-coach business spots the point where growth has stopped coming from the coaches it already has.
