Coach utilisation
Also called: trainer capacity utilisation, coach capacity
Coach utilisation is the share of a coach's working time that is actually billed to clients. It connects revenue per coach to capacity: a coach who is fully utilised has no room for new clients, and the next dollar of revenue requires a structural change rather than more effort.
A full coach is a capacity constraint, not a demand problem. Marketing more leads to a coach with no spare utilisation converts acquisition spend into replacement, defending a flat line rather than growing it.
The number matters most in a multi-coach business, where one coach running at full utilisation next to another with spare capacity is a rebalancing opportunity. It is also the point where the second ceiling, the growth ceiling of a full coaching business, starts to show up in the numbers.
